AN ODE TO THE UNSUNG HEROES

You rise and put on your white fatigues,

But how ironic is that, for fatigue is the last thing you'd say.

You march in your battlefield,

Fight unflaggingly, you war everyday.

"Take care of your health." You say to them.

But how often do they say that to you?

Putting on a brave smile, you heal.

But we know there's a monolithic freight you conceal.

You go for their life and they come for yours,

The difference faded away in the chaos.

They're erroneous, believing you to be divine, making you the bait.

You're like a mother who can only protect her child and not his fate.

The already arduous job now turned into a herculean task.

But you kept putting on the PPE, shield and the mask.

The battle scars are a symbol of your valiance,

Nothing compares to your resilience.
